Elephant in the Room – elder abuse event

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD, 15 June) is just around the corner. The Advocare team is getting ready for another busy month leading up to the day itself. This year we’ll be offering a larger-scale, free event aimed at supporting those frontline workers and volunteers who work daily with older adults.

It’s a difficult topic to talk about. Let’s address the elephant in the room – ELDER ABUSE. As frontline workers and volunteers working with older people each day, the person you visit as a volunteer or support worker could be struggling with a secret.

If you are uncomfortable talking about elder abuse, just imagine how lonely it is for the 1 in 6 people who are experiencing it, and don’t know what to do.

Join Advocare for this free information session to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2025. Our experts will help unpack Elder Abuse for you – why it happens, how to recognise it, and what to do to help the older person you work with.

Elder abuse needs to stop. You can be the difference. Making it easier to talk about is a giant, first step.

Bookings open soon. Keep a look out on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages to know when registrations open on Eventbrite.
