Big changes are coming to aged care. From the start of November, a new Aged Care Act will come into effect. The reforms are significant and complex. Find out how to learn more about how these changes might affect you or someone you care for.
This Act introduces important changes to how aged care in Australia is delivered with a focus on the rights and needs of older people. To help people understand what’s changing, COTA Australia (Council on the Ageing) and Advocare’s colleagues, the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), are hosting community consultations around Australia.
These sessions ‘New Aged Care reforms Explained’ will provide an opportunity to:
- Learn about the new Aged Care Act and what it means in practice
- Understand what will change in the aged care system
- Ask questions and receive clear information
- Share your views and experiences to help guide the rollout.
Older people must be at the heart of this change. That’s why we’re encouraging older Australians their families and other supporters as well as interested community members to attend and be part of the discussion. Due to popularity, the Perth in-person session is booked out, but do get some friends together and join an online session via the internet.
