I’m Maria and I’m 78 years old. After my husband died, I was really struggling with the grief and feeling lonely. I can’t drive and was too scared to leave the house. I was even finding it hard to make decisions. Everything was just overwhelming, even the garden where I normally like pottering. Then, I was referred to Advocare’s care finder service by my neighbour who’s a nurse and everything started to get a bit better.
The care finder provided me with support, connecting me to social programs that helped me feel less isolated. They organised and accompanied me to my medical appointments, which was such a relief. They even helped me take back control of my finances, something I had been finding very difficult. One of the most precious gifts was helping me reconnect with family.
Thanks to Advocare, I now have quite a bit of support that allows me to live comfortably at home. I am so grateful for their compassion, understanding and practical help. They’ve turned my life around and I can’t thank them enough for being there when I needed them.”
