Advocare is a leader in addressing the rights of older people and elder abuse.
As custodians of the Seniors Peak Body, we help ensure older West Australians feel supported, connected and heard. The peak’s aim is to provide a collective voice for more than 428,000 older people living across this vast state. We provide support, information and referrals to ensure older adults have access to the services they need in the community.
The Seniors Peak Body is funded by the WA Government’s Department of Communities.

What are the priorities for the Seniors Peak Body?
Four main themes from the State Government’s Age-friendly WA: State Seniors Strategy 2023-2033, set out Advocare’s main objectives as custodians of the Seniors Peak body to champion older people’s ability to:
- Thrive physically, mentally, and spiritually
- Live in safe and friendly communities
- Stay connected and engaged
- Have views that are heard.
Guided by these four pillars Advocare’s role is:
- Ensure older people have their diverse range of views heard, particularly seniors who also belong to under-represented groups, whose views have often been overlooked in the past.
- Raise awareness of existing services and support older people in need and link them to appropriate services.
- Raise awareness of elder abuse and mistreatment of older people as a major problem affecting people of all backgrounds in our community.
- Engage and consult with older people to identify their concerns, focus on promoting solutions for identified issues, and to provide information.
