My first 4 months at Advocare were spent as a social work student on placement immersing myself in frontline advocacy and developing a passion for grassroots, rights-based community work.
At the conclusion of my placement, an opportunity arose to work at Advocare on a part time basis which allowed me the flexibility to continue studying full time while also building on my experience working in the human services sector.
After graduating, I moved into a full-time role working alongside team leaders to establish the care finder program. I then stood up into my current role as a team leader for the care finder team where I have been able to expand my career trajectory into the realm of leadership with the support of excellent training and mentorship provided by Advocare.
Throughout my professional journey I’ve developed a passion for supporting people who otherwise fall through system gaps. It’s so fulfilling to be working in a role and at an organisation that so closely align with my personal values and areas of interest. Human services work can be challenging, but the nurturing culture at Advocare and genuine passion that the team have for the work we do makes me grateful to come to work every day.
