Check out these two events to support service providers and to help make age-friendly communities a reality. One is for people looking to learn about the funding application process with Lotterywest. The other is a research project to bring seniors’ issues and opinions to the surface.
Free workshop to support funding ideas for seniors
If you have a great idea to enrich the lives of older people and need some support and funding to help get it off the ground, Advocare is supporting a workshop in August that spills the tea on the best tips.
Grab a cuppa and join Lotterywest for a free, practical, all-day workshop to help you turn ideas into fundable, measurable community impact projects.
Whether you’re running programs, supporting carers, delivering services, or building age-friendly communities, this Impact Café workshop is tailored to your work and the people you support. You’ll also connect with others across WA’s seniors’ sector and leave with practical tools you can apply straight away. This workshop is thanks to the support of the Department of Communities and Advocare, WA’s Seniors Peak Body.
Workshop date: Monday 3 August, 9.00am–4.30pm.
Location: L2 Exhibition Hall, 140 William Street, Perth, refreshments provided.

Be part of a Healthy Ageing Community Conversation
Your voice is important, and you should be part of the conversation about exploring what helps people age well.
Advocare is a proud partner to ECU and its Preventative Health and Positive Ageing project and other community partners Befriend, Dementia Australia, Department of Communities, Health Consumers’ Council of WA and LiveUp, in facilitating a community consultation to explore what helps people stay healthy, connected and thriving as they age.
By listening to community experiences and combining them with research, the project aims to support people to stay well, prevent illness, and enjoy a good quality of life.
This session will bring together community members, researchers, and local organisations. It’s an opportunity for people to have their say and help guide the focus of future preventative health and positive ageing activities, programs, and research projects.
Workshop date: Tuesday, 11 August 2026, 10.00am–1.00pm (optional lunch from 1.00pm–2.00pm)
Location: Level 2 Exhibition Hall, 140 William Street, Perth CBD
